Hold voters registration in schools, COMELEC urged
The Kabataan Party today urged the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to study the possibility of establishing special voters registration centers in major schools in the country to make it more accessible to students.
“Bringing voters registration in schools will not only make things more convenient for students but it will also encourage them to exercise their right to suffrage,” Kabataan Party president Raymond Palatino said.
Aside from schools, he added that the COMELEC should also consider setting up mobile registration centers in densely populated areas in urban centers and remote places in the provinces.
“This is one way to resolve the issue of disenfranchisement in elections as well as problems of last-minute registration rush this December.”
“COMELEC should not only guarantee clean, honest and peaceful elections next year but also ensure that nobody of voting age should be left behind and be disenfranchised.”
Meanwhile, Palatino called on young Filipinos to register and vote in the upcoming elections.
“We call on all patriotic young Filipinos to register and serve as vanguards of the people’s sovereign will in the upcoming elections.”
“We should not allow this election to be tainted again by massive fraud and violence and our future as a nation be sacrificed anew.”
