The Kabataan Partylist today joined other partylist groups and progressive organizations in expressing support for Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo.

Holding banners and placards with the slogan “Satur, idolo ng kabataan!” (Satur, idol of the youth!), members of Kabataan Partylist stormed the Manila Police District headquarters in United Nations Avenue, Manila to convey the youth’s support for Ocampo and likewise condemn the Arroyo government’s systematic political persecution being instigated against progressive partylists organizations.

“The more they persecute Satur Ocampo and other patriots, the more we want to be like them,” Kabataan Partylist President and 1st nominee Raymond Palatino said.

“Satur Ocampo exemplifies the kind of leader the youth can emulate. He exudes dignity and courage even in the face of government and military harassment.”

“The government and AFP are not only making Satur Ocampo more popular among the youth and the people, they are turning him into an icon of defiance against a government that abuses its powers and curtails the rights and liberties of the people.”

“The government is seriously mistaken if it thinks it can cleanse Congress of Arroyo’s critics by jailing Ocampo and leaders of other progressive partylist groups. There will be more younger and determined Saturs that will emerge and continue their fight for truth, justice and good governance.”
